For You the Sun Will Shine: Songs of Women in the Shoa is a unique music album performance of songs composed by women who were imprisoned by the genocidal Holocaust perpetrated by the Nazis during World War II. Songs by both Jewish and gentile composers are present; an inset booklet offers biographical information on the individual creators, where known. A few of these brave women survived the horrific concentration camps, but most did not - in at least once case, the song's lyrics miraculously weathered being buried and retrieved. Shulamit performs the music with haunting empathy in their original languages (including German and Czech); English translations of the lyrics are included in the booklet. A powerful, cathartic experience, and a tribute to the martyrs and survivors of unspeakable horror, For You the Sun Will Shine is worthy of the highest recommendation for public library music collections. The tracks are "The Emigrant Song", "The Song of Auschwitz", "A Little Christmas Lullaby in Ravensbruck, 1944", "A Jewish Child", "Farewell My Friend", "A Little Lullaby", "Wiegala", "I Wander Through Theresienstadt", "And the Rain Keeps Falling", "Moravia, Moravia", "A Good Day", and "Prayer for Peace".
